California grape vine climbing Coast Live Oak tree, backlit.
Nice exposure for that one leaf, but tree dark as is expected. No editing of contrast, brightness, etc in this case. I sometimes tweak the photo, and especially crop. I used the spot meter to read the exposure off the bright leaf. F6 @ 400 mm gave a good narrow depth of field. 1/640 sec stopped the light wind breezes. You could crop this, but I like the sense of surroundings (shown fuzzy). Cerrito Creek, N bank. My camera records GPS if I choose, so I can come back later and find it. Very useful when a plant goes dormant. Usually I use a separate Garmin Dakota that I love - small, fast, puts location on detailed map provided. Can also plan routes and do all the various GPS functions.
